Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust selects Nervecentre EPR

Electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Nervecentre has further strengthened its presence in the north of England through a partnership with Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

The trust has selected Nervecentre as its preferred supplier, following Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust which deployed its EPR in November 2025 and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust which is planning to go live early next year.

Rob Birkett, chief digital information officer at Mid Yorkshire, said: “Selecting Nervecentre as our preferred supplier is a significant step in moving us forward on our journey to implementing a new EPR system at Mid Yorkshire.

“A new EPR will be transformative for the trust and will form the foundation of our digital strategy, on which we can really improve the care we provide our patients, in both our hospital and community services.

“This is a positive step forwards for all our teams across the entire Trust, empowering colleagues via better use of digital and data. We are looking forward to developing our relationship with Nervecentre as a key digital partner.”

Mid Yorkshire is the eleventh acute trust to adopt Nervecentre’s cloud-native EPR, with the system now set to support nearly 14,000 beds and up to 10.5 million people.

Nervecentre has already established a strong presence in the East Midlands, with Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust selecting the firm as their preferred EPR supplier.

Other sites which have deployed the supplier’s EPR include University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Foundation Trust, Chesterfield Royal Hospital Foundation Trust, Northampton General Hospital, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and East Sussex Healthcare.

Nervecentre was confirmed as the preferred bidder at Mid Yorkshire after scoring the highest in a competitive tender process.

Paul Volkaerts, chief executive at Nervecentre, said: “We’re delighted to be selected as Mid Yorkshire’s preferred EPR supplier.

“This is an exciting moment for the trust, and we’re proud to partner with them on such an important transformation programme.

“Choosing Nervecentre demonstrates that trusts have real choice in the market, and that modern technology can make a tangible difference to both staff experience and patient care.

“We look forward to working closely with Mid Yorkshire to deliver an EPR that benefits clinicians and supports patients across the region.”

Meanwhile, Harrogate and District NHS FT has announced the rollout of the investigations functionality in December 2025, which allows clinicians to view and file investigation results directly in Nervecentre.

The trust implemented the clinical photography and electronic observations functionalities in November 2025, which it says have enabled more accurate patient lists and enhanced monitoring tools, helping to identify patients requiring urgent review for sepsis.

Dr Jacqueline Andrews, executive medical director at Harrogate and District, said: “By bringing vital patient information together in one secure, accessible system, they reduce duplication and improve accuracy.

“Clinicians can access real-time data at the bedside, make faster decisions, and respond quickly to changes in a patient’s condition.”

Harrogate and District plans to roll out further Nervecentre functionality in April 2026.
