Digital Health Summer Schools, the premier NHS IT leadership event helping CIOs, CCIOs and CNIOs deliver the shift to community, digitisation and prevention, has opened for registrations.
This year’s event takes place on 16-17 July 2026 at the University of Nottingham. The two-day conference has a revamped format which doubles down on small-group and interactive sessions to provide attendees with more practical insights and deeper knowledge exchange.
These include hands-on leadership workshops led by experienced NHS digital leaders, skills bootcamps on business planning, project management, benefits realisation, and tech masterclasses to sharpen digital know-how with Digital Health Network sponsors.
Karl Grundy, managing director of Digital Health, said: “We created Summer Schools as the place for the NHS digital leadership community to come together for honest conversations, practical problem-solving peer support and have fun.
“That’s why we’ve doubled down on smaller group interactive sessions for 2026. It’s a safe space where national and local leaders can take time out to think differently, learn from each other and go back with a focus on making improved changes.”
The main plenary session will feature national keynotes and NHS teams delivering real impact. Last year featured NHS England’s Ming Tang, interim chief digital and information officer, Helen Balsdon, national CNIO, and Dr Wajid Hussain, national CMIO, providing updates on the national direction for digital.
Attendees also heard from Jonathan Brotherton, chief executive at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, and Professor Andy Hardy, chief executive at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
Hayley Grafton, CNIO at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and chair of the Digital Health Networks CNIO Advisory Panel, said: “Summer Schools offers fantastic opportunities to network and socialise with like-minded individuals, both during and after the sessions.
“Unlike other conferences, Summer Schools emphasises learning from each other’s lived experience, policy and direction setting. Sessions include formal presentations, collaborative workshops and informal discussions, sharing best practices in an open and friendly atmosphere.
“With fewer suppliers present, there is a greater focus on how we deliver transformation together. All backgrounds and experience levels are welcome, making this an inclusive and valuable experience for everyone involved.”
With more than 300 delegates in attendance, there will be ample networking opportunities to reconnect with the Digital Health Networks community and make new connections.
The social programme includes a pre-event BBQ and middle-night dinner, where the winners of the Digital Health Awards will be revealed and the top ranking person the inaugural Digital Health Impact List will be honoured.
Summer Schools is exclusively for members of the Digital Health Networks, the UK’s largest health IT community. It is open to current and aspiring digital health leaders.
The event is supported by Networks sponsors Altera, AWS, CereCore, Dell Technologies and AMD, Imprivata, InterSystems, Microsoft, Salesforce.
Prices start from £399 +VAT. Twenty percent group discounts are available for groups of four or more attendees, with spaces limited. Secure your place today and register here.
