Tennis season opens with Stage Stirling

Stage Stirling 2010
On a brilliant sunny day the first of this years competitions took place on Saturday 10 April and there was a pleasingly good attendance, with some new faces taking part - good to see.
Sylvia Hulme and John Hill came well out on top in their group with Piotr Rossol and Hannah Forbes in second place. The other group was more keenly contested with a mere three points covering the leading three pairs. This group was won by Sarah Francis and John Chisholm and the runners-up being Jean Murray and John Day.
The first semi-final resulted in a win for Hannah and Piotr against Sarah and John C by 5 games to 1 and the second was won by Sylvia and John H over Jean and John D by 5 games to 2. (so many Johns!!!)
The final was an entertaining one and enjoyed by all the other participants with Hannah and Piotr being sucessful by 5 games to 3.
All in all it turned out to be a good start to the tournament and hope that this is a good sign for the future.
