SCOTTISH CHAMPIONS.

Posted on 08 Feb 2010 by Robin

It was a great weekend for the Lobban family at the Scottish Junior National Squash Championships at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.

Greg (17 ) in his first under 19 event came through against number one seed, Sam Allan form Montrose. Greg lost the first game but recovered to control the next three games to take the title. Ewen Urquhart, also from Inverness Tennis & Squash Club, lost to Sam in the semi-final but came from 2-1 down to beat Chris Shinnie ( Aberdeen ) to take third place. Ally McCorquodale completed the club threesome by taking 5th place.

Kirsty not to be outdone by her brother also won her under 15 category with a year to spare. Kirsty had her toughest match in the semi-final when she lost a very close first game 13-11 to Claire Gadsby from Crieff. Kirsty then never looked back as she took the next three games to add The Scottish under 15 title to her under 11 and 13 titles.

Wick and Gordonstoun player, Fergus Richards, won his first Scottish title in the under 15 event with a 3-1 win over Jason Lang from Glasgow with Gary Beales (Wick), Martin Ross and Findlay MacDonald (Inverness) 3rd , 7th and 9th

In the under 17 event Jamie Henderson (Thurso ) took 5th place closely followed by Kyle Gribben, 6th, and Allan McKay , 10th, both Inverness.
